New Jaguars Facility is a Machine for Winning

Through a series of collaborative workshops, ROSSETTI and the Jacksonville Jaguars established the vision and goals for the new training facility. Centered around performance, context and community, the facility’s major focus is to create a culture of excellence. This core vision not only provides a prime environment for the player’s athletic health and wellness, but also incorporates the coaches and staff as equal members of the team striving for championships. For the performance center to embody the project vision, the Jacksonville Jaguars wanted a disciplined and purposeful home. The well-known axiom, “Form Follows Function,” became a key driver throughout all planning and design.

Supporting the aspiration to create an efficient machine for winning, intentional design decisions enforce purpose rather than provide ornamentation. The architecture artfully composes all building systems into a fully coordinated experience, allowing for an interior design overlay that achieves the desired intentionality while providing a timeless and modern aesthetic. Intended to be a highly functional facility, the interior design compliments the building’s form, enhancing its beauty with simplicity and efficiency.

The building is defined by its use of precast concrete, metal and glass. The public areas and staff office spaces are designed to provide ample natural light, which is leveraged through the use of light colors and materials. Many of the player areas, which are private, use dark neutral colors to provide focus on performance. To further blur the lines between interior and exterior, natural materials, such as wood, provide warmth at select areas. Additionally, metal mesh is used throughout the interior as a means to provide visual connection to other spaces, to exterior views and to the building’s systems, emphasizing the functional and industrial modern aesthetic.

The use of the Jacksonville Jaguars’ brand elements is strategic. The team colors, logo and phrases are used as accents in team and player spaces. This application supports the mainly monotone palette to focus on the space’s specific purpose. Furniture, fixtures and finishes were selected as an additional layer to reinforce efficiency and neutrality, maintaining a culture of excellence.
