Miami Open

activation concepts amp up the experience at the miami open

When the famed Miami Open moved from the lush mangroves of Key Biscayne to the asphalt jungle of Miami Gardens, a major intervention was required. The master plan strategically integrated both fixed and temporal architecture and landscaping across the 26-acre site. The expansive tennis campus includes a 6,000-seat modular Grandstand stadium, 12 tournament courts and 18 practice courts. Connectivity was key to linking Hard Rock Stadium to the new courts, with Dolphin Plaza as the centralized spine, flanked by two public squares and six themed neighborhoods to celebrate Miami’s social culture. A new 14,000-seat modular championship tennis court was the first in the industry to be assembled inside an NFL football stadium and disassembled in one month. The customized seating bowl and premium hospitality creates an electrifying annual event attended by 300,000 guests, players and media.
