ROSSETTI R&D creates innovative solutions through in-house software development, virtual modeling, technology testing, digital fabrication and prototyping. ROSSETTI R&D also develops reciprocal academic/professional relationships within the design and construction community. The analysis and research provides the firm with a knowledge base which reliably validates design decisions through practical research.
ROSSETTI R&D developed and launched Sightline Designer, a parametric plug-in for Grasshopper which allows designers the ability to interactively design 3D seating bowls. Clients and designers experience, in real-time, the effects of design decisions on spectator viewing quality, the shape of the seating bowl and heights of concourses.
Virtual Design + Construction
For Daytona RISING, ROSSETTI’s Virtual Design + Construction “technology toolbox” included over 25 different software programs, including REVIT/Navisworks and Building Information Modeling (BIM) platforms. This strategic ecosystem integrated and consolidated the enormous amount of information developed for the project, and allowed for manipulation it early in the design process with foresight for constructability.
ROSSETTI has expanded our ability to scale prototypes, ranging from beautifully detailed massing models to illustrate project vision and scope to 3D printing of components.
Custom pieces, such as signs, displays and furniture, designed and fabricated by ROSSETTI enhance interiors with one-of-a-kind details. Signage for Vertical Detroit and Downtown Youth Boxing Gym is designed, fabricated and installed by ROSSETTI designers. In addition, ROSSETTI designers are working toward prototyping larger components, such as facades, ceilings and structures to test and create unique systems and finishes.
ROSSETTI has taken experiential design to a new level with the virtual reality. The Oculus Rift’s advanced display technology combined with its precise tracking system enables the sensation of ‘being there.’ This a fully immersive experience allows ROSSETTI designers and clients the freedom to innovate with a high degree of accurate information about what fans and patrons will feel and see in the environment.
