Washington D.C. Entertainment Sports Arena

integrated into the community, training center creates an innovative civic space

ROSSETTI designed a training facility and 4,200-seat arena for Events DC, the official convention and sports authority for the District of Columbia. Located on St. Elizabeth’s East Campus, the arena will serve as the first WNBA-dedicated facility in the league and as a state-of-the-art training center for the Washington Wizards. Besides basketball, the arena incorporates community-centric elements from the ground up and will serve as a catalyst for new opportunities in Ward 8 and citywide to create a new destination within the district for residents and visitors to enjoy. The facility is expected to attract more than hundreds of thousands of new residents and visitors per year to Congress Heights and generate construction and permanent jobs for both the arena and Phase I infrastructure of the St. Elizabeths East Campus redevelopment. The Entertainment and Sports Arena is scheduled for completion in 2018.
