New York was a strategic market for Major League Soccer, and establishing a team was a top priority. When Red Bull bought the team, the new ownership’s primary design goal was to link the brand to a European-style soccer experience. Though revenue generation was not a primary goal, the stadium features a variety of suite and communal dining experiences to accommodate the New York market. Fans are fully enclosed on two levels by the cantilevered 360 degree roof canopy, the first of its kind in the US. This also creates intimacy and a strong connection to the pitch. The stadium is known for its thunderous crowd noise and an electric atmosphere.
